Good morning Cary! It’s a bit of a strange issue today so I’ll keep it short up top as the content is all a bit more newsletter and event related today. Back to your regularly scheduled programming on Friday and excited to hear from YOU today.

Anyway, here’s what you can expect in Today’s issue:

Alright folks, so after many weeks of water main breaks, film festivals, and park events, Cary is pretty quiet to start the week off. I could pad this section with press releases, or rehash the water main break from last week, but I'd rather ask you all instead (and avoid sensationalism).

You all represent over 10,000 readers spread across every area of town and you likely notice things before I do. A shop that's closing, a sign that just went up, a road project that appeared out of nowhere, a council item your neighbors keep talking about, a business that deserves a spotlight. The things that I just can’t always find with a small team.

So I’m asking you for some assistance!

Our first event was a success! I’d like to thank the 50+ people that showed up for a brand new experience and the folks that made it out to the second location at SideBar. A huge shout-out to Sidebar for hosting us as well.

SideBar opened on East Chatham in 2018, right between Bond Brothers and Pizzeria Faulisi, and it was built for conversation. No TVs (the bartender even confirmed this while we were there), cozy seats, crystal light fixtures, and a patio around the sides.

The menu runs about 20 house and classic cocktails. The dinner club favorite seemed to be the Long Story Short (bourbon based) and opted off-menu for a Sazerac. There's no kitchen, but you're allowed to bring food in which does wonders given its location.

Hours run 4PM to late on weekdays, 2PM on weekends. Call ahead if you have a big group as the space was cozy for our event.

Full disclosure: SideBar agreed to host the after-party for our first Cary Dinner Club, so I wanted to get them a spot in the newsletter as well (not sponsored).

Heads up if High House Road is part of your commute: the new traffic signal at the Bond Park entrance goes live Tuesday. Give it a little extra caution the first few days.

It’s a bit of a slower week again but the weekend will pick back up, check back in Friday for the weekends activities.

Tuesday, September 22nd: ITA All American Women's Tennis - All week · Cary Tennis Park hosts some of the best college players in the country all week, right on the heels of the pickleball nationals.

Wednesday, September 23rd: Ivey-Ellington House Tours - 12PM to 2PM · Old Library Park on Academy Street is an 1870s Gothic Revival cottage, restored last year and open for walk-in tours every Wednesday.

Wednesday, September 23rd: Movie Night Under The Stars - 7:30PM · Sertoma Amphitheater will be home to Monsters Inc playing in this family friendly environment. No registration required. Bring your blankets and seats!

Thursday, September 24th: ZZ Top & Dwight Yoakam: Dos Amigos Tour - 7PM · Koka Booth Amphitheatre is home to two legendary acts on the same stage. Catch both before the weekend.

Thursday, September 24th: The Session Jazz & Open Jam - 8PM · Bond Brothers Eastside House band for an hour, then the stage opens up.

Friday, September 25th: Final Friday Art Crawl - 6PM to 9PM · Downtown Cary Galleries and studios open their doors for the monthly crawl.

Friday, September 25th: Cary Players presents The Prom - 7:30PM · Cary Arts Center and four washed-up Broadway stars crash a small-town prom to save their careers and accidentally save the day. The Drama Desk winner for Best Musical, staged by Cary's own community theater troupe. Big laughs right here in Cary.
