The Fiscal Year Q4 Council Report from Cary released this past Tuesday (August 18th) and it noted that Cary residents rated local services provided by the city, their highest rating in 26 years.

The survey covers 33 categories and runs every 2 years. Some key points that the report covers are listed below. Note that while the report was released this week, the dates it covers are from April to June:

Some other key points in the report cover topics ranging from the budget staying on track, 225 more parking spaces being added downtown, and the spectator draw of events such as The Soccer Tournament with nearly 58,000 spectators.

Made it over to Fenton lately? Well, it might be worth another trip soon. Sweet Paris Crêperie & Café is set to open in “late August” and will serve up a French-inspired menu.

This location will be the first in the Triangle. They plan to serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner with many of their locations open until 9 or 10PM. Crêpes, coffee, and even cocktails are on the list of things to look forward to.

When this location opens you can find it over at 1 Fenton Main Street, Suite 190 in Cary, NC. Keep an eye on their social media for more details, they seem to announce their new spots and openings pretty regularly.

I want to keep this section active but I never want to invent news to fill it, so sometimes slower weeks like this can happen. Here’s what I’ve seen since Tuesday:

Recent board meeting notes were minimal, as they were either cancelled or covering old business. There still seems to be a bit of staff changeover within the city after the recent audit issues, so not many new updates there. And finally, most of the focus has been on the Quarterly Report + the Lazy Daze festival leading into the weekend.

If anything changes, I’ll let you know on Tuesday.

Saturday + Sunday, August 22-23: Lazy Daze Arts & Crafts Festival - 9AM to 5PM · Cary Town Hall Campus in Downtown Cary hosts this 50th annual arts festival. There are 250+ artists to see, with food, drink, and music onsite. Check the website for a variety of great ways to actually get to the festival easily as well.

Saturday, August 22nd: NC Courage vs Boston Legacy - 7:30PM · WakeMed Soccer Park hosts the NC Courage, currently sitting in a playoff spot at 6th in the League. They lost last week 3-2 to a 93rd minute goal for Houston. They look to bounce back from their previous 3 game win streak and move up the standings.

Sunday, August 23rd: Bluegrass Jam with Eastside Ramblers - 4:00PM · Bond Brother Eastside hosts a weekly bluegrass jam session for anyone looking to get involved with the local roots scene. Bring an instrument or enjoy a drink with a new mix of songs and guests every week.

Sunday August 23rd: Squeeze, Adam Ant, & Haircut 100 - 6:00PM · Koka Booth Amphitheatre sets the stage for celebrating over 50 years of classic songwriting from Squeeze. Check out bonus performances from alt-rock/punk band Adam Ant and pop group Haircut 100.
